Ministries

Honduras

The Pennyrile family is highly involved in the Honduras Mission. Members have traveled to Honduras on several mission trips and have grown to love the people and the work there. Pennyrile supports a full time missionary, Marvin Rivera and his wife Lourdes, who serve at the Mateo Church of Christ outside of Tegucigalpa. The church is committed to take a group every other year to work beside Marvin and the Christian brothers and sisters at Mateo in providing services and outreach opportunities to their community. These week-long mission trips consist of providing an on-site dental clinic, a construction ministry, teaching support and providing clothing and hygiene supplies for the families served. If you have an interest in this ministry see Barry Webb.

Small Group Ministry

The Small Group Ministry at Pennyrile offers a unique opportunity to get to know other members of the Pennyrile family on a deeper level. If you are intersted in joining a small group or would like more information contact Sean Niestrath.

Current Small Groups:

Building Group- a positive, encouraging, and productive service which will be offered every Sunday evening at the Pennyrile building, beginning at 6:00.

Prayer Group/Book Study-meeting time will be 1pm Sunday afternoon at the building.

Study Group- Studying John's account of the gospel and other subjects. Meet in each other's homes at lunch on Sundays.

Family Group-the majority of members are families with school age children or younger, but anyone is welcome!  We meet each Sunday at 5pm either at the building or in our homes.

Encouragement Group-visit 2 area care facilities on 1st and 3rd Sundays. Meet with the building group on 2nd Sundays and meet in the church library on 4th Sundays to address bday/anniv cards and encouragement notes.

Christian Counseling

With so many stressors in our fast paced culture, a supportive, encouraging church family is a wonderful resource. Another resource for dealing with depression, anxiety, and other challenges is Pennyrile Christian Counseling (located in the east end of the building). Most insurance is accepted and a sliding fee scale is available. Elizabeth Webb, licensed marriage and family therapist, is a member at Pennyrile and provides professional therapy from a Christian perspective.

West Kentucky Youth Camp

Every July, a large number of the Pennyrile family attends a week at WKYC outside of Marion, KY. This week is filled with lots of fun, fellowship, and future memories. If you would like more information about attending WKYC contact Ronny Stubblefield.

The website for Western Kentucky Youth Camp is :

This Sunday, April 21, is our special contribution for Western Kentucky Youth Camp.  All money given in excess of our weekly budget will be given to camp towards the construction of new cabins.

Sixteen new cabins will eventually be constructed. There will be eight new cabins for girls and eight for boys.  This includes two handicap accessible cabins.  These cabins will be self-contained  (heated and cooled and will contain bathroom and shower facilities).   Presently, four new cabins are under roof.  Each new cabin costs approximately $40,000.

Pennyrile has a rich history with WKYC.  Many of our members attended camp as youth and many of our youth presently attend.  Many of you have also worked at camp as staff.

You have always generously supported WKYC.  Thank you for all you do for camp and your contribution Sunday for WKYC.  Checks may be written to "Pennyrile Church of Christ" (as you normally would do) or to "WKYC."

Community Garden

We plant this small plot behind the church every year.  Most of the harvest is donated to the local food bank.

Annual Yard Sale

Every year we have our epic yard sale during spring break.  This sale helps fund our Honduras Missions and also our Youth Missions.  We've been blessed year after year with a great turnout.

Holiday Food Baskets

Once or twice a year around the Christmas holidays we collect food for 20-25 families in our community.  This is always a rewarding activity from donating, sorting, packing, and delivering!
